1st Kwara Marathon Postponed Due To Rise In Covid-19 Cases.

The much anticipated maiden edition of the marathon in Kwara State, which was earlier scheduled to hold on Saturday, 23rd of January 2021 has been postponed.

The new date, according to the organizers, is Saturday, 6th March 2021.

In a statement signed by the Deputy Chairman of the Local Organising Committee (LOC), Mr Mubarak Salau Bello, and Secretary Mr. Olasunkanmi Habeeb, the postponement was due to the upsurge in the Covid-19 cases as witnessed in the past few days.

The statement added that the shifting in date was also to monitor and further curtail the spread of the dread virus in the state, noting the new date will give the LOC, potential sponsors, stakeholders and officials enough time to adequately plan, and for athletes to prepare and train hard for the race.

They apologized for the inconveniences the postponement might have caused, and implored all to remain safe and adhere to all Covid-19 rules and guidelines.
