Ipata Marketers Solicit For Public Waste Disposal To Prevent Epidemic

The marketers at Ipata market in Ilorin East Local Government Area of Kwara State have solicited for waste disposals from Kwara State Waste Management Authority to provide roro bins to the market to prevent epidemic.

The marketers in the market have complained over inadequacies of refuse bin as market is one of the most density populated market in the state.

According to one of the trader in the area, Hajia Dauda Hassanat lamented on lack of enough refuse-bins for use of marketer, stressing that the people have no choice than to drop their waste into drainages and on the roads divide, blaming government for responsible for dirty attitude of people.

She explained that the roro-bins supplied to the market are too small and not enoug to accommodate all the waste being used by the marketers.

She noted that people from nearby  communities came in the night to drop their waste in the area when everyone had slept.

A bucher in the market, Alhaja Abibat Aremu said that it is unhealtical for meat sellers to operate in a dirty environment like Ipata market, saying that the major problem in the market is lack of hygienic environmental.

She described lack of proper maintenance on the part of marketers as major challenges in the marker, stressing that people always dump refuse without proper disposal to the appropriate dust bins.

A tomatoes vendor, Madam Iyabo Ayuba frawned at people attitude  by dropping their refuse at anywhere for insufficient dust bins, appealing to the Waste Management Board as a matter of urgency to provide more big roro bins to the market.

She claimed that every traders in the market paying their taxes regularly and the government should be up and doing on their responsibility to provide  social amenities for the need of marketery.

She however, pleaded with the government to provide enough public waste disposal to the market to prevent epidemic.
