Ajase-Ipo Royal Stool: Engr. Lameed, 18 Others Signify Interest.

Ajasse-Ipo is an ancient town located in Igbomina- Yoruba land in Irepodun local government of Kwara South Senitorial District, the town has been in existence for many decades and administered by fifteen past traditional rulers.
According to available history, the first Olupo was late Adeyemi Adeoba, the second Olupo was late Oba Igboribido Adeoba ruled for the time immemory and the third Olupo late Oba Ariyibi ruled from 1763 to 1777 having spent fourteen years on the throne, followed by fourth longest serving Olupo of Ajase-Ipo, Oba Alebiosu who ruled for 70 years from 1777 to 1847.
The fifth Olupo, late Oba Woleola was installed in 1847 and died in 1863 spent 16 years, followed by sixth Olupo of Ajase-Ipo, Oba Ibrahim Oniro became Oba in 1863 and died in 1898 after spent 35 years on the throne.
The seventh Olupo of Ajase-Ipo, Oba Ahmadu Atoloyetele was ruled from 1898 and died in 1918, he spent 20 years as Oba of Ajase-Ipo, while eight Oba Kadril Ariganjoye became Oba from 1918 to 1935 for 17 years.
In the nineth Olupo of Ajase-Ipo, Oba Lawal Arojojoye was also installed as Oba in 1935 and died in 1950 having spent 14 years on the throne, while tenth Olupo of Ajase-Ipo, Oba Jimoh Ariwajoye became Olupo of Ajase-Ipo in 1950 and died (1951) a year later.
Then it was the turn of eleventh Olupo of Ajase-Ipo, Oba Aliyu Orimadegun who ruled from 1951 to 1970 spent 18 years on the throne.
The twelve Olupo of Ajase-Ipo, Oba Kadri Ariyibi was installed in Aug-Sept. 1970 and died same year having spent only two months on the throne, while thirteen Olupo of Ajase-Ipo, late Oba Alhaji Saliu Alebiosu II was installed in 1970 and died  in 1995 having spent 25 years as Oba of Ajase-Ipo.
The fourteen Oba of Ajase-Ipo, late Oba Alhaji I.A. Omowarere became Oba in 2000 and died in 2009 having spent ten years on the throne, while fifteen Oba of Ajase-Ipo was late Oba Sikiru Sanni Woleola II who was installed as Oba in 2009 and passed on in 2021 having spent ten years on the throne.

Meanwhile, following the demise of the 15th Olupo of Ajase-Ipo in Irepodun local government area of Kwara State, Oba Sikiru Atanda Woleola II, who died on Friday, 21 February, 2021 at age of 69 during a brief illness.

The race for the successor of late monarch has began as no fewer than 19 princes eyeying Ajase-Ipo royal stool as at least 19 contenders from two out of three ruling houses have indicated interest to succeed the late monarch.

According to investigations conducted by this medium, revealed that the official process to appoint the new monarch has not been release but contestants have began to lobby to get king makers’ approval for the exalted stool.

In a solidarity message jointly signed on behalf of  Kwara Youth Unity Forum, Comrade Ismail Alada and the National Secretary of the forum, Mallam Nasir Yufuf Olawoye advised the king makers to make a right choice by pick Engr. Salami Otunola Lameed as the next Oba of Ajasse-Ipo.

The message said the forum support the candidature of Engr. Lameed based on his meritorious service to his community and his philanthropic nature in contributing to the growth of women and youth empowerment in Ajasse-Ipo and Kwara south as a whole.

The message further disclosed that the Special Adviser to the forum  distributed free food items worth several million of naira to lesspriviledged in Ajasse-Ipo and it’s environs during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The message said Lameed has been helpful to the entire Ajasse-Ipo community and the state at large, adding that the whole community ready to have him as the next Oba of Ajasse-Ipo by both old and young in the town.

The forum however, commended the fatherly role of the Kwara State Traditional rulers, the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu Gambari, the Olofa of Offa, Oba Muftau Gbadamosi Esuwoye II, and others first class traditional rulers in the state.
