Alhaji Abdulmumini Abdulmalik Turns 70


Today, Saturday 12th March 2022, Alhaji Abdulmumini Ayo Abdulmalik, Assistant Comptroller- General of Immigration (rtd), from Akodudu Qts, Ilorin turns seventy years old on mother eath. ‘Alhammdulillah’.

Among Government High School Alumni, he is popularly called 001, being the first enrolled student of the then Ilorin college, Ilorin (Now Government High School) in 1967.


He was one of those who persevered and stayed to complete their secondary education in the college despite the challenges of not being only a new college but a private one for that matter. Soon after graduation from the college in, 1971.

He gained employment with the Federal Office of Statistics in January 1972 where he joined other young school leavers employed for the preparatory works of census 73.

He later worked with Kwara State Publishing Cooperation, the publisher of daily and Sunday Heralds between 1974 and 1977 when he secured direct admission to read English at Bayaro University. He thereby became one of the first few graduates produced by the then Ilorin College.

Following the completion of his National Youth Service Scheme in 1981.

He served with Kwara State College of education for a while and rose to the position of Senior Assistant Registrar (Academics) before transferring his services to Federal Ministry of Internal Affairs as an Immigration Officer in 1989.

He served in many and different capacities in the Immigration Service before he retired voluntarily in March 2012 as an Assistant Comptroller General of Immigration Service.
During the 50th years Anniversary of Government High School in 2017, he was honored, among others, with an award for Exceptional Contributions to the College by the founder, Late Alh AGF ABDULRAZAQ, SAN OFR, the father of the Executive Governor of the Kwara State, Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq.

Alh Abdulmalik who holds B.A (Hons) English from Bayaro Univrsity and M.P.A from University of Ilorin is married with children as well as Grand Children.
