APC Congress: Ilorin West Holds Peaceful Congress, As Asa, Offa, Others LGs Conduct Parallel



Some local government of the All Progressives Congress in Kwara State on Saturday conducted their congress to elect new executives that will pilot the affairs of the party for the next four years at different venue and elect different executives.


In Ilorin West Local Government, Mallam Sulaimon Tedijini has been unanimously re-affairmed as the chairman, APC Ilorin West Local Government Area of Kwara State.


The congress which was conducted at the Kwara State Council of Art and Culture witnessed a large turnout of the party members.


At the election, Comrade Musbau Esinrogunjo who coordinated the congress, introducing the INEC officials present to observe the congress as Mallam Sulaiman Tejidini and others were unopposedly endorsed as the executives.


Speaking with a journalist after the election, the Independent National Electoral Commission official, Mr. Muhammad Kabir affirmed that the local government area election was free and fair without any rancor.


He said with the procedure for the congress was conducted accordingly with provisions of the party’s constitution.


Chairman APC Congress Planning Committee, Ilorin West APC local government, Comrade Musbau Esinrogunjo, described the exercise as best, free, fair, and balance congress.


He however, charged the new executive members to strictly adhere to the party’s constitution to avert an unforeseen crisis, advised them on transparency and accountability in discharging their official duty.


In his words, Comrade Esinrogunjo pleaded to all members of Kwara APC to support the party leadership under Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.


The elected chairman, Mallam Sulaiman Tejidini while speaking with journalists thanked all members for providing him another opportunity to serve as chairman of the party in the local government.


He however, assured them of an open door policy in order to bring dividend of democracy to the people at the grassroots.


the congress was attended by TIC Chairman Ilorin West LG, Hon Abdulgafar Omotosho, two members that representing the local government at Kwara State House Assembly and other party members.


A faction of the All Progressives Congress under the leadership of the State Caretaker Committee Chairman, Hon. Bashir Omolaja Bolarinwa in Asa local government has adopted consensus arrangements, where candidates are elected through affirmation.


At the APC Congress held at Afon the headquarters of Asa local government Mallam Shehu Yahya was elected as party chairman while in another location, faction of Hon. Bashir Omolaja Bolarinwa at Eyenkorin affirmed Alhaji Imam Abdulkadir O.S, as their chairman for Asa Local Government respectively.


Prominent party stakeholders that took part at BOB faction congress in includes State Assistant Organising Secretary, Alhaji AbdulRaheem Yusuf Akorede, the State Assistant Treasurer, Alhaji Mohammed .O. Kamal, Anofi Ayinla, Mahmud.O. Jimoh; Engr. Dauda Babatunde; Comrade Abdulganiy Abass Kondoro; Mallam Sakariyahu Salahudeen; Alhaji Ayinde Adebayo Rasaq, Mr. Yusuf Ahmeed Obadagbagbe and Alhaji Fadilullahi Shittu Akorede among others.



Also the Kwara All Progressives Congress under the leadership of the State Caretaker Committee Chairman, Hon. Bashir Omolaja Bolarinwa in Offa Local Government has also adopted consensus arrangements, where candidates were elected through affirmation.



The Local Government Congress which held at the Offa APC local government party secretariat situated at Olofa Way witnessed a huge success when party members and stakeholders across the twelve wards unanimously elected new executives in all the party positions at the local government level.



At the Congress, party members and other critical stakeholders affirmed Hon. Kehinde popularly called ‘Kennedy’ as the chairman for another term.


Party Elders, Stakeholders, Stalwarts, across the twelve wards of the local government were all present.



Meanwhile, the dust of crisis rose in the Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq faction of the All the Progressives Congress (APC) in Ifelodun local government is unsettled, as the local government congress stands to be inconclusive.



While stakeholders in the caucus of Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq support Group (AASG), the likes of Sen. Makanjuola Ajadi pioneered the People’s Frontier Movement (PFM).



Other pro-Abdulrazaq splinter groups includes Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq Progressives (AAP) among others.



According to a member of the AASG who spoke to this medium on condition of anonymity, said APC in Ifelodun at a meeting on Saturday in Ifelodun Local Government will explode if the Congress take place.



Recall that there has been cold war between the two House of Assembly members from Ifelodun local government, Sen. Makanjuola Ajadi, a development that made the lawmakers stand against Harriet Adenike Afolabi -Oshatimehin’s nomination’s screening at KWHA last Tuesday, before she was eventually confirmed on Thursday after lots of impasse.



It was reported that some APC stalwarts in the council area also not left out of the imbroglio as the highest ranging office holder who is supposed to make peace came up with another list.



According to the reports, the Kwara State Deputy Governor Mr. Kayode Alabi called the two factional leaders, Sen. Makanjuola Ajadi of PFM and Alhaji M. T. Lawal of AAP to a meeting to harmonize Ifelodun local government party executives list.



It was gathered that the congress was in conclusive as some politicians prepared another list of executives, after the two factional leaders have already agreed to harmonize list made by AAP and PFM.


In his reaction, the State Chairman APC caretaker Committee Alhaji Abdullahi Samari expressed delight that the process was peaceful and orderly throughout the state.



“So far so good, the reports I have indicate that congress went on well in all the 16 local government areas. The congress was conducted peacefully. It was consensus all through,” Samari said.



Also speaking shortly after the congress, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Strategy Alhaji Sa’adu Salau applauded the consensus arrangement which produced new leaders at the local government level.



“In line with the unanimous resolution of all APC stakeholders in the state, the directive of our leader His Excellency Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq and the National Caretaker Committee of APC, we resolved that the election of the executives of the party would be based on consensus arrangement. That was exactly what we have done in all the 16 local government areas of the state.




“So, what we did today was to publicly affirm those elected on the basis of consensus. I can confirm that the process at which the congress was concluded has been peaceful, hitch-free and we are so delighted with the process,” Salau added.


As at the time of filling this story, report from Baruten, Irepodun, Ilorin East, Ilorin South, Ekiti, Isin, Patigi, Edu, Moro, Kaiama, shown that the exercise was hitch-free and without untoward incidents as party delegates affirmed their consensus list.
