APC Revalidation Exercise, Opportunity To Corrects Past Mistakes – Prof. Oba Abu.

Following the decision of the National Caretaker Committee of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to extend the party’s  membership registration and revalidation exercise until March 31 across the country.

A prominent member of the APC in Kwara state,  who is also a former gubernatorial aspirant,  Professor Shuaib Oba Abdulraheem said on Tuesday that the development has provided an opportunity for the National leadership to put right all perceived wrongs doned to some party members.

The former Executive Chairman of the Federal Character Commission, FCC told journalists in Ilorin that history will not pardoned the APC National Caretaker chairman and all Committee members if they failed to correct the wrong done to members of the party.

He added that as a political party,  the APC ought to provide incentives that will ensure old members are retained while also enhancing its alluring features to encourage prospective members to join the party.

Professor AbdulRaheem lamented that he has been inundated with  calls  from  old and prospective new members who alleged of deliberate attempt to disenfranchised some members during the redivalidation exercise in the Kwara state.

He also  alleged  that no registration officials or agents were found  in majority of the polling units across the state, adding they either claimed that they were under instruction to  capture particular members on temporary exercise books.

He however, expressed delight at the extension of the period of the exercise and the prospects to further boost membership of the party in the state.

“I will like to appeal to all the stakeholders in the party members be given hands to exercise their right to participate in revalidation exercise.

“The membership registration exercise is very important, it should not be considered as a platform to boost ego or show self-importance, this is definitely not   a good way to reward loyal party members”, he submitted.
He urged members of the National Caretaker Committee and other stakeholders in the party across the country to take   necessary steps to ensure party members are not allowed to continue to experience depression of spirits, emphasizing the need to quickly rectify the situation.

He pointed out that a lot can still be done between now and March 3, 2021, explaining
loyal party members should look cheerful and be happy when they are renewing membership with their party.

“Our leaders have the  opportunity to right the wrong done to us in Kwara APC and it will be  an inexcusable mistake on their part if they still missed such an opportunity”, he buttressed.
