The call for a State of Emergency in Kwara State by a group known as Kwara 4 Kwara is not only unpatriotic but an attempt by the opposition to gain power through the barrel of the gun.
While Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq continue to consolidate on concerted efforts to strengthen security in the State , it is rather a call that displays complete ignorance of the group in the context of global and national security challenges as confirmed by security experts and of course , no less a person than the Inspector General of police , Mr. Usman Alkali Baba , acknowledging Kwara State as the most peaceful State in the Country.
We are concerned about the call by the group at a time every indigene and resident of Kwara is applauding Governor AbdulRahaman AbdulRazaq for his efforts in curbing insecurity in the state.
For the record, the state government has not only strengthened the Joint Security Task Force known as Operation Harmony with procurement of new patrol vehicles but has taken far reaching decisions ,including rehabilitation of police barracks to further motivate and improve the welfare of security agencies in the state.
For the first time in the history of Kwara State ,the appointment of a Special Adviser on Security and two Special Assistants on Security , who are all acknowledged experts shows the priority Governor AbdulRazaq gives to Security of lives and property.
The appointments have enhanced the cooperation between the state government and Security Agencies.
It is on record that the Joint Security Task Force have successfully rescued victims of kidnapping in the state and recently neutralized a leader of bandits in the state.
With all these efforts by the state government to curb insecurity, we are appalled by the unpatriotic call for a State of emergency in the state by the group.
Members of the group will do well to avoid being used by frustrated politicians who are mongering for power and would do anything to seize it.
We urge every peace loving resident of the state to ignore this unpatriotic call for state of emergency and continue to support the administration of Governor AbdulRazaq by rallying round security agencies as part of collective efforts to ensure peace and attract investments that will bring rapid development to the State.
Finally, Security Services in the State and federal have been put on notice of the design of these unpatriotic elements bent on inviting anarchy and destroying our hard earned democracy.
