Entrepreneurship: ‘Turn Anything Around Into Money Making Venture, Kwara Poly Students Charged’

The students of Kwara State Polytechnic Ilorin, have been advised to be conscious and serious about the education in preparation for for better tomorrow, encouraging them not to wait until they get job.

Speaking, the guest speaker at 2021 grand finale ceremony of Entrepreneurship Development Centre (EDC) of Global Entrepreneurship Week, held at Kwara State Polytechnic campus Ilorin on Friday, Mallam Nasir Abdulkadir challenged students to be self employed.

He charged them to be self employers of labour instead of searching for white collar jobs, told them to build on their enterprenuship skills acquired in the school for them to improve the socio-economy of the Nigeria.

He disclosed that it is not good for an entrepreneurer to run for competition business because it make them to be creative and innovative, tasking the youth to always turn anything around them into money making venture.

Earlier in her opening remarks, the  Director of Entrepreneurship Development Centre (EDC), Dr. (Mrs)  Adijat Biola Aiyelabegan said global entrepreneurship week took place between 8th and 12 th November, 2021 which was recognised as one of the biggest celebrations globally, disclosing that campaign began in 2008 with emphasis on inspiring young people.

She added that the efforts make their mark which quickly grown them to become a comprehensive researchers, investors, entrepreneurship policy makers and others organisations support in collaboration to advance economic growth of more than 180 countries around the world.

She further said that 35,000 events and competitions will take place during global entrepreneurship week connecting more than 9 million participants to potential collaborators, mentors, and investors.

Director noted that dozens of world leaders on every continent and network of more than 15,000 partner organisations support the initiative every year, pointing out that this year programme has inspired millions to take next step, imploring their business potential.

“The global entrepreneurship week celebration here in Kwara State Polytechnic, we have incorporated some activities like workshops, creativity and innovation competition, personal literacy programme for cleaners and security personnel to help our journey as entrepreneur to kick start our business.

“We expect the event to inspire, re-orientate, motivate and mentor individual to become better entrepreneurs, change agents, create wealth and open job opportunities for others.

She appreciated the unquantifiable efforts of the Kwara State Governor, Mallam Abdulrahman AAbdulrasaq and rector of the college, Engr. Dr. Abdul Jimoh Mohammed towards the suppor given for the success of the programme.

She also thanked the distinguished invited guests for honoured the invitation inspite of several others deserving official and personal commitments to be attended to in the state.

Dignitaries at the programme are Head Of Department (HOD) Business Education, Kwara State College of Education, Oro, Alhaji Rasak Oba Bolanta, Director centre for Entrepreneurship and Vocational Studies, Al-Hikmah University Ilorin, Prof. Ipoola Okunlola, lecturer at Muyideen College of Education Ilorin, Mr. Kayode Adeyemo.

Others include, Chairman and Chief Executive Fire and safety Links Ilorin, Otunba (Engr) Kayode Tunde, Nigerian Army College of Education Ilorin, Lieutenant M.D. Instruetor, Ag. Director Entrepreneurship Kwara State College of Education Technical, Lafiagi, Dr. (Mrs.) N.B Yusuf, Director Pharmacy, Bioraji Pharmacy Ltd, Pham. Olabode Olu and Deputy Registrar Kwara State Polytechnic Ilorin, Titilayo Tawakalitu Kamaldeen among Others.
