Fire Razes Ilorin Popular Cows, Rams Market.

Ilorin Popular Ipata cows and rams market gutted by fire at about 10:pm killed several cows, rams and others valuable in the market on Thursday.

Speaking with RealNews reporter on the incident, the Chairman of task force of the market, Alhaji Babatunde Maimasa, said the incident happened during late Thursday heavy wind before the rain in Ilorin.

He confirmed that the fire emanated from a huge dumping site behind the market which later blew the fire flame to stores in the market, saying that some of the marketers have already closed for the day business.

He explained that some good Samaritans who reside in the area drawn the attention of marketers to the incident through phone calls, adding that urgent distress call was put to the Kwara State Fire Services for quick action.

He commended the quick response of fire fighters who came with three water tankers to prevent the spreading of the fire, hinted that large numbers of police officer from ‘C’ Division, Oja-oba was there to provide security of lives and property.
He lamented that about 12 cows at rate ₦100,000 and about 15 rams were roasted by fire while many other animals that escaped are still unknown, explaining that over two million naira animals feed were also razed down by fire.

He however, appealed to the state government under the administration of Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq to as matter of urgency come to their aide as most of the victims were currently on bank loans.
