Health Commissioner Begins Working Visit To Health Facilities In Kwara, Commends Emir Of Kaiama

In a bid to improve health care service delivery in Kwara State, the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Raji Razaq on Wednesday commenced a working tour of health facilities in the State.

The tour of health facilities in the State is to ensure that health interventional programmes being implemented by the Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq-led administration reach all Kwarans seamlessly.

The first port of call of the working tour was the Kaiama General Hospital, where the Commissioner interacted with members of the public, community leaders, health workers, patients and their relatives.

The tour afforded the Ministry of Health’s team, comprising the Permanent Secretary and some top Directors the desired opportunity to evaluate the facilities, identify gaps and challenges mitigating effective service delivery.

“Having invested in infrastructural rehabilitation in the last 2 years of this administration, our motive for this visit is to initiate a system strengthening process in the health sector towards enabling our people reap maximal benefits of having a people loving Governor”, the Commissioner said while addressing the health workers at the hospital.

Dr. Razaq and his team had earlier met with the TIC Chairman of Kaiama Local Government, Alh. Suleiman Yusuf before proceeding to the palace for a courtesy call on the Emir, Alh. Muazu Shehu Omar.

He commended the Emir and appreciated his exemplary leadership at ensuring service uptake and effective utilization of the health facilities in his domain.

The Emir in his response applauded the good work of the State Governor especially those targeted at transforming his community and enabling the dividends of democracy reach his people.

Earlier, the Medical Director of Kaiama General Hospital, Dr. Abass Adeyemi who was on ground to receive the visiting team, informed the Commissioner of the unflinching support being rendered by both the Emir and the TIC Chairman in ensuring the smooth running of the hospital.

Also speaking, the TIC Chairman, Alh. Suleiman Yusuf appreciated the Governor and the Senator representing Kwara North Senatorial District, Sen. Sadiq Umar for their life enhancing support even beyond health-care for the people of Kaiama Local Government Area.

The team also visited the Primary Health Centre at Gwaria, where compliance with the tenets of the Basic Health Care Provision Fund already operational in the state were ascertained.
