Independent Day Celebration: Diamond FM To Establish TV Station Soon – Director

The Supervisory Director of Diamond 88.7 FM, Ilorin, Mr Jolaoluwa Afolabi fondly called by his admirers Jabulani has disclosed that plans are underway to complement the effort of Diamond FM radio station with a television station arm before the year runs out.

Mr. Afolabi made this known on Friday at an event to commemorate the 2021 Independence Day celebration held at the the radio station premises in Ilorin, the kwara state capital.

 

The director while rejoicing with the people on the occasion of the Independence Day, saying despite the challenges facing the country there is still needs to celebrate independence day and praise God on whatever conditions.

The event which was held in partnership with FIX Nigeria Group and Nigerian Workers was attended by dignitaries, including the state commissioner for youth development, Mrs Harriet Afolabi-Oshatimehin; popular thespian, Chief Peter Fatomilola; respected Islamic scholar, Sheikh Buhari Musa; Comrade Babatunde Balogun, among others.

 

The commissioner for youth development, Mrs. Harriet Afolabi Oshatimehin in her goodwill message, called on Nigerian youths for more understanding as there is still a lot of hope in Nigeria.

According to her, we should be grateful because we still remain one and something is still binding us together as Nigerian.

 

“There is still a lot of hope for Nigeria, that I strongly believe in, like I always say youths are the hope of this country. I just want to encourage the youths to keep the vision and hope alive. We should be dedicated to the cause of this country and our dream will definitely come true,” the commissioner said.

Chairman of the Trade Union Congress (TUC) in kwara state, Comrade Akinsola Akinwumi commended the efforts of Mr. Afolabi for giving kwarans the hope that Nigeria will emerge stronger as expected.

He however, condemned the killings couple with injustice, harassment and arbitrary arrest of freedom fighters while the federal government gives amnesty to the terrorists that have killed thousands of people across the country.

“What are we celebrating after 61 years of injustice? Are we celebrating unstable electricity or how terrorists hijacked our security architecture. Nigerians can not afford three meal in a day because of high cost of living while government refused to implement minimum wage.”

 

“Nigeria has been degenerated reasons why people are calling for self determination since Nigeria Government failed to restructure the country as promised”, he said.
