Kidnapped KWASU Student Re-gained Fredom

 

A 300 level student of mass communication of Kwara State University, Malete, Miss. Khadijat Isiaka who has been reported to have been kidnapped has been rescued by security agents in the state.

 

This was contsined in a press Statement signed and issued to newsmen in Ilorin on Saturday by the Director, University Relations, AbdulRasaq Sanni.

 

The statement said that it would be recalled that a female student was kidnapped on Sunday 22nd August, 2021 along Okuru Road in Malete town at about 9.30pm.

 

The statement however, explained that the joint efforts of His Excellency, the Governor of Kwara State – Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, security agencies, Kwara State Commissioner of Police, DPO Malete Malete Division, State Anti kidnapping Squad, IGP Response Team, operatives of the Department of State Security, KWASU Safety Unit and Malete Vigilante group led to the rescue of Khadijat Isiaka from her abductors.

 

Accirding to the statement, “One of the criminals was arrested on Saturday morning in Shao town, a development that led to the arrest of other members of the syndicate”, the statement added.

The arrested suspects

The suspects have since been moved to the State Police Headquarters Ilorin for further interrogation.

 

The statement said Dean of Students’ Affairs, Prof. Moshood Jimba and some staff officers of the University were at the state Police Headquarters to take possession of the victim and subsequently, reunite her with her family.

 

The statement confirmed the victim has been handed to the Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Muhammed Mustapha Akanbi (SAN), by the police at his official residence in Ilorin on Saturday.

 

Meanwhile, the Vice Chancellor has appealed to staff and students within and outside the campus to remain calm and go about their lawful activities with caution, as the management would not relent in its effort at ensuring safety of lives and properties on the university campus.
