Kwara APC Holds Peaceful State Congress, As Fagbemi Finally Emerged Chairman

Prince Sunday Fagbemi has emerged along side with 35 others as the new elected Chairman of of the All Progressives Congress (APC) of Kwara State chapter of the party in a peaceful consensus election held in the state party secretariat Ilorin on Saturday.

Sunday Fagbemi in a most peaceful conduct state Congress wins congress witnessed by the state State Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRahman, his deputy, Elder Kayode Alabi, speaker Kwara State House of Assembly, RT. Hon. Salihu Dan-Ladi, Barrister Kunle Sulyman, Ambassador Yahaya Seriki, Alhaji Raji Mohammed, Hon, Iliasu Ibrahim, Hon. Sidiq Katibi, Senator Makanjuola Shadi, Housee of presentative members who are members of the party also present at the congress.

Others witnessed the Congress include all 16 Transition Implementation Committees of local governments, Senators, all former local government chairmen and councilors who are members of the party, all present and former commissioners who are members of the party also present are chairmen of parastatals who is a card carry members of the part wete present at the Congress as well as genuine party faithful.

Fagbemi, along other standing ally of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq and elders of the party in the state consensusly affairmed the candidature of Prince Sunday Fagbemi and others members of new executives composed from various local governments elected by thousands of delegates at the APC State Secretariat.

Declaring the new executives as winners during the congress, the chairman of Congress, Professor Emmanuel Dan-daura appreciated the state governor and members of the All Progressives Congress in the state for providing enabling environment for the Congress.

He urged the executives to run an open door administrative that will accommodate all for the progress and success of the party in any forth coming elections.Prince fagbemi in his acceptance speech said his team would lead by example and work with everyone for the progress and success of the party during the next coming general elections in the 2023.

“I thank His Excellency, the governor of Kwara State, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRasaq, our party leaders, elders and delegates for the confidence reposed in me. I also want to thank my predecessor, Alhaji Abdullahi Samari for holding forth so well for the party despite all storms. We will soon reel out our plans and we will start with genuine reconciliation of our brothers and sisters of the same family,” he said.

He further said; “We will be transparent in all our dealings. We will hit the ground running and will soon intimate the public on the direction we will take.”

The congress was attended by Governor AbdulRazaq; his deputy, Elder Kayode Patick Alabi, Kwara State House of Assembly Speaker, Yakubu Salihu-Danladi, Senators Ibrahim Yahaya Oloriegbe, House of Representstive member, Hon. Lola Ashiru, House of Assembly, principal officers of the party and members, cabinet members of APC National Chairmanship hopeful and Turaki Ilorin, Mallam Saliu Mustapha, Barrister Kunle Sulyman, Ambassador Yahaya Seriki, Alhaji Raji Mohammed among other party leaders.


The congress was conducted by a seven-person National APC Headquarters committee led by Prof Emmanuel Dandaura, and witnessed by officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The congress began with Dandaura announcing the procedures for the exercise as laid down in the APC laws and regulations.

“We started very well since our arrival. We held a stakeholders meeting where we explained the modalities and sought the buy-in of everyone and we are impressed by the conduct,” Prof. Dandaura said.


“After the screening, we established that one candidate each obtained form for each of the positions and we are therefore going for consensus in line with the guidelines of the party.

He also said “I can confirm that APC Kwara is working as a family. Kwara APC is the most peaceful and orderly. I have had the privilege of conducting congresses in four states before and what I conducted here (Kwara) is one of the best.”

Other members of the APC congress committee are Ishiaku Bako (Secretary); Jonathan Maina; Izaleku Yakubu; Steven Ajuwa; Prince Juliana Precious and Rekiya Ibrahim under the supervision of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
