Kwara C D.H R Elects, Sworn-in New Officers

The Kwara State Committee for the Defence of Human Rights ( C.D.H.R), in Ilorin, has elected their new executive officers that would runs the affairs of the association for the next two years during a peaceful election on Saturday.

In his speech after the election, Comrade Kabir Ibrahim charged the new executives to run an open door administration for the progress of the association, commending the existing mutual understanding and one love among them.

While conducting the oath of office, Comrade Kabir Ibrahim who is the Assistant National General Secretary of the association, gave assurance that the national body of association will them maximum support.
In his acceptance speech, the newly sworn-in Chairman of the association, Comrade Afolabi Lukman Olanrewaju, said the peaceful conduct of election has proved that the association has truly grown in maturity in the firm hands of formidable team.
He charged them not to relent on activities in challenging oppressors and promote justice irrespective of the circumstances surrounding the fundamental job at hand, confident that members are up to the task.
He solicited support for cooperation from the Kwara State Governor, Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, Commissioner of Police, Director of State Security and others security agents on the maintaineance of peace and order in the state.

“The anti-Corruption agencies, EFCC, ICPC, judicial, Nigerian Labour Congress, Trade Union Congress and others civil society organisations in the struggle is much required in the hard-earned democracy through Anti-Corruption crusade”, he emphasized.

Eight officers were elected and they all returned unopposed with each properly nominated and seconded by members and three officers were recognized by the CDHR constitution while five others were elected during the election.

The three Officers are, Comrade Afolabi Lukman Olanrewaju (Offa Unit) – Chairman, Comrade Idris Afees Olayinka (ASA Dam/Islamic village Unit)- Secretary, Comrade (Mrs.) Taiwo Akinyemi (Gaa AKANBI Unit), Treasurer.
Other Officers for the branch are, Dr Adekunle Adebo – Vice Chairman, Comrade Ajayi Ademola, Assistant Secretary, Comrade Reuben Olatunde Public Relations officer, Comrade Jimoh Ibrahim, Internal Auditor, while Comrade Ibrahim Remilekun was elected as Legal Adviser.
