Kwara State Government has issued warning to some Civil Servants in the state to desist from linking the official information of the state government to the public on social media.
This was contained in a circular signed issued by the Head of Service, Mrs. Module Oluwole in Ilorin forwarded to Permanent Secretary Government House, Principal Private Secretary, Deputy Governor’s Office, the Secretary to the State Government, Governor’ Office, all Chairmen of Commissions, the Chief Judge, High Court, Grand Khadi State Court of Appeal, all permanent Secretary and Head of Extra-ministerial Department and Parastatals on Monday said the state government noted with displeasure on how the Government information is leaking with the intention to malign the state government efforts.
She stressed that such irresponsible behaviours amount to wanton disregard for code if conduct of ethical confidentiality in the civil service which is a misconduct and will not be condoned.
She added that the state government is recognising the relevant laws on freedom of speech and expression, explaining that the government has the responsibility to uphold the civil service rules that moderate such rights to enforce strict compliance with the rules may be required.
HOS however, reiterated forthwith disregard for the public service rules, financial regulations and other extant rules and circular relating to divulging of Offical secret or disparaging the Government by any civil servant shall met with stiff penalties in accordance with the provision of the public service rules.
