Kwara Lawmakers Condemn Indiscriminate Bumps Construction on Roads.

Kwara State House of Assembly has comdemned the indiscriminate construction of bumps and speed breakers on roads in the state
This was sequel to a Motion on Notice titled “Indiscriminate Construction of Bumps and Speed Breakers on Roads in Kwara State” sponsored by a member, representing Ekiti Constituency, Hon. Abolarin Abdulganiyu Gabriel on Wednesday plenary.


Abolarin who lamented that bumps unprofessionally erected could result to destruction of newly constructed and rehabilitated roads want an urgent actíon to be taken against such act
For his part, Hon. Owolabi Olatunde Rasaq (Share/Oke-Ode Constituency), said majorities of these bumps were constructed unnecessarily by villagers without permission, charging the people to always seek permission from concerned authority if need ever arise to erect one.


Lawmakers in their separate submissions cautioned communities erecting bumps and speed breakers to exercise restraint so as to prevent road damage and mishaps.
Reading the resolutions of the House, Speaker Yakubu Salihu Danladi called on the state government to ensure state and local government roads are not tempered with without due approval from appropriate authority.


Danladi also tasked Kwara State Road Maintenance Agency (KWARMA) to put machinery in place to ensure proper construction of standard bumps and speed breakers on roads where considered neccessary.
