One of the neighborhood robbers who has been terrorizing the residents of Oke Foma Phase 3 estate in recent time has been arrested.
This was contained in a press statement signed and made available to this medium by the Public Relations Officer of NSCDC Kwara Stste Command, Babawale Zaid Afolabi (SC), said AbdulWasiu Sulaiman, 21 was accosted by the vigilante members of the community while trying to sold a generating set he stole from one of the houses inside the estate.
The generator, valued at one hundred and fifty thousand (#150,000) belongs to one Moshood Otubu who resides at Oke Foma Phase 2 . Abdulwasiu scaled the fence of Otubu’s premises to steal the generator.
Confirming the incident to newsmen in Ilorin on Thursday, the spokesman of the NSCDC in Kwara State Babawale Zaid stated that there have been increase rate in the reports of burglary and housebreaking incidents in recent time and efforts to arrest the situation is yielding positive results.
“There have been reports of housebreaking and bulglaries in and around llorin metropolis in recent time and our officers and men have been working closely with various vigilante groups in the neighborhoods”. Babawale disclosed.
He explained further that the suspect has confessed to be member of a gang who specializes in breaking into people’s house to steal their valuable items and that his gang was responsible for various housebreaking and bulglary cases in recent time.
“Abdulwasiu has confessed to the crime that his gang has been responsible for various housebreaking incidents where items such as building materials, electronic items among other things were forcefully stole from people’s houses.’
Efforts are ongoing to round up other members of Abdulwasiu’s gang.
