Kwara NSCDC Boss Preaches Peace, As Command Marks Civil Defence Day

As the country continue to grapple with myriad of security challenges all over the country, an appeal has gone to the people to allow peace to reign and avoid any action or inaction that can thwart the peaceful coexistence of the people in the society.

According to the spokesman of Kwara state NSCDC, Babawale Zaid Afolabi, said the two days seminar will have some topical issues like peace and conflict analysis, consequences of violence in our society, place of human right in peace building among other topics.

The Commandant, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Kwara State Command, Iskilu Ayinla Makinde stated this while declaring open a two- day seminar organized by the Peace and Conflict Management Unit of the Corps as part of the activities to mark this year’s International Civil Defence Day, which holds on March 1st.

The Commandant, who decried the unabated spates of security challenges going on in the country appealed to all the concerned stakeholders to be alive to thier responsibilities in order to ensure a peaceful and crisis free society.

” The theme of this two days seminar is ; Roles of Community Stakeholders In Sustaining Harmonious Co Existences In Our Society and the main thrust is to sensitize the stakeholders on the consequences of the disputes and conflicts on the overall basis of the society, also how to achieve an enabling environment devoid of violence and to educate the stakeholders on their roles in sustaining an harmonious coexistence” The Commandant disclosed.

The Commandant who seized the opportunity to highlight the core mandate of the NSCDC to include crisis management, protection of critical national assets and infrastructure and regulations of the activities of the private guard units adding that part of the recent collaborative responsibility of the corps is to mediate in the herders and farmers conflict which led to the establishment of the Agro Ranger Unit of the corps.
