Kwara NSCDC To Partner Hoteliers In Fighting Criminals

Kwara State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps ( NSCDC) has appealed to the hotel owners in the State to complement efforts of the security agencies in their bid to rid the state of criminal elements before, during and after this yuletide and new year season.

The NSCDC Commandant in Kwara State Makinde Iskil Ayinla stated this during a meeting the Corps held with the executive members of the Hotel Owners Association of Nigeria, Kwara State Branch at the Command’s headquarters last Thursday.

Represented by the head of the NSCDC crisis management department, Odeniran Esther Iyabo, a deputy commandant, the commandant enjoined the hoteliers to put in place stringent security measures in their hotels that will make it difficult if not impossible for criminals to use their facilities as hideouts.

” This festive period we expect the influx of various kind of people in the state including bad eggs and most of them will like relaxation centres and hotels as their hideouts and that Is why this meeting with you is imperative, we always count on your supports and this is just a reminder and to show sense of appreciation that we value your supports” the commandant disclosed.

According to the spokesman of the NSCDC in the State Babawale Zaid Afolabi part of the measures both parties agreed to put in place were lodgers form to be filled by their customers, all the lodgers must produce a valid identity card, installation of CCTV camera by the hoteliers and regular contact with counter terrorism unit and Intelligence and Investigations Department of the Corps for the exchange of intelligence information.

In his response, the president of the association, Mr Dauda Akande, who spoke on behalf of the Association reiterated the hoteliers’ readiness to strengthen the working relationship between them and the Corps and made sure that criminal elements do not use thier hotels as hideout.

He also promised that hotels will put in place some security measures in and around thier hotel premises.
