Kwara Popular Market Gutted By Fire, Property Worth Thousands Of Naira Burnt To Ashes


It was reported that several thousand of naira was burnt to down by fire incidence at Ipata Oloje market Ilorin around 12;40am on Saturday that led to the loss of goods and valuables of marketers in the market which also involved two shops, two cars, and welder’s workshop.

Speaking with our reporter, the Chairman, Ipata Oloje Market Association, Alhaji Mashood Idilobe said that the incidence came as surprised to all marketers and customers in the market as many goods and property was badly destroyed.


He said the affected victims solicited for financial assistance from the state government and all blessed people in the society for the financial assistance, praising the timely and quick effort o response of Kwara State fire service.

In his reaction to the incidence, the Assistant General Secretary of the association, Comrade Abdulrauf Hibrahim lamented over the incidence which cost the affected victims their means of livelihood, calling on the government come to the side of the victims.

He discloses that some of the victims were on repaid loan, stressing that the loan must be repaid under no condition, appealing to loan providers to tamper the issue with glove hands as they will continue to pay as soon as things improved.

“I thanked God Almighty that no one was injured and lost life was recorded during the incidence”, he praised God.
