The Kwara State Government has emphasized the importance of the Hospitality Industry, particularly the role of caterers in the promotion of the Cultural Heritage of the State in the area of the people’s indigenous cuisines.
The State Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, made this known this at the inauguration ceremony of the Kwara State chapter of Professional Caterers Association, held at Folusho Hall, Sango Ilorin.
Governor Abdulrazaq described the Hospitality Industry as a major service sector with world economy encompassing extensive variety of service industries that include food service, Tourism and Hotels.
He pointed out the importance of food in human lives that plays an important role in Tourism promotions, employment promotion as well as its immense contribution to the Internally Generated Revenue of the State.
The Governor, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Communications, Hajia Rabiat Mopelola AbdulRahaman, said kwara state is endowed with so many agricultural products that are processed into different consumable delicacies.
The governor said “This makes kwara state a destination for Food Tourism, hence the offshoot of restaurants, eateries and bukaterias across the nooks and crannies of the state.
“This is how this administration has created an enabling environment for businesses to thrive despite the challenges of Covid-19 pandemic.
The Administration has given top priority to the development of Culture and Tourism sector in all ramifications as a veritable tool to sustain the diversity of the state in open the State economy”, the governor explained.
He encouraged the executives of the association to nurture it to greatness and support his administration’s efforts to lift kwara state into greatness and economic prosperity by paying taxes and dues promptly.
