KWSG To Partner NIPR On Information Dissemination

The Kwara State Government is to partner with the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), in ensuring proper dissemination of its activities and evolve adequate feedback mechanism from the people of the state.

The State Commissioner for Communications, Mrs. Abosede Buraimoh, gave the indication in Ilorin, while receiving the leadership of the state chapter of NIPR, led by its Chairman, Doctor Saudat Salah-AbdulBaqi, on a Courtesy Call in her office.

Mrs. Buraimoh,who described information as pivot of any sustainable democratic practice, said NIPR has strategic roles to play in view of its statutory function of social reenginering,bridge building and mending as well as fostering unity among diverse ethno-religion groups in Nigeria.

She expressed delight over the existing synergy between the Institute and the state Government and assured that all the requests of the Institute would be looked into, with a view to ensuring prompt implementation and execution.

In his remark, the state Director of Information Alhaji Ayobami Akanbi explained that NIPR has strategic role to play in ensuring proper dissemination of information, curb the menace of fake news and spread of misinformation overheating the nation’s polity.

Earlier, the state chairman of NIPR Doctor Saudat Salah-Abdulbaqi had traced the origin, functions of the Institute and urged the Commissioner to fast track the approval of the renovation of its state secretariat by the state Governor Mallam Abdulrahman AbdulRazaq, saying that the currently sorry state of the Secretariat was hampering its oversight function in the state.

The current Head of Department of Mass Communication, Al Hikmah University enjoined the Commissioner to ensure that all Public Relations Officers in the state Ministry, Department and Agencies, take active part in NIPR activities, in view of its strategic roles of ensuring capacity building for its members to enhance their performance.
