A 52-year-old electronics artisan, Alhaji Taiye-Hassan Beki, has reportedly died when part of his building collapsed during a rainfall accompanied by a storm in llorin, the state capital on Tuesday.
It was gathered that the heavy rain, which started about 1:30 am also destroyed many properties in the metropolis, according to the victim’s father the victim was urinating at the back of the building during the heavy rainstorm when some parts of his mud building suddenly fell on him.
The incident reportedly happened at the Beki family compound, Alanamu area in the llorin West local government area of the state.
Residents of the community told journalists that the victim was trapped under the collapsed structure for several minutes before he was later removed by some sympathizers who were members of Beki family.
It was gathered that the victim was unconsciousness with various degree of injuries was rushed to the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital (UITH) on Tuesday where he was later confirmed dead by the doctor while receiving treatment.
The deceased was survived by children and parents and relations he has since been buried at the Muslim cemetery llorin according to Islamic injunction by Sheikh Suleiman Beki.
