Mr. Nigeria Holds Colourful Children’s Day With Pupils In Unique Styles.

It was a moment of joy for the school children in Ilorin on Thursday 27 of May, 2021 as some students from selected secondary schools gathered at the Queen Elizabeth School Ilorin to celebrate the children’s day.

The event was organised by the Publisher of Kwara People Magazine, Hon. Abdul Hameed Oladipup Alli popularly called Mr. Nigeria.

The students from Queen Elizabeth School Ilorin senior and junior, Iman senior secondary school Ilorin senior and junior, St James C.A.C. senior secondary school Irewoledde senior and junior and Ajenipa College, Asa dam road Ilorin senior and junior among others gathered for the celebrations.

In his welcome address, the organiser, Comrade Abdul Hameed Oladipup Alli said the purpose of the gathering is to discuss the future of the younger generation, pointing out that it was also to celebrate them and make them happy.

He said that he started Journalism at of 16 when he was in the secondary school, disclosing that he first publication was published in Lagos in 1992 and back to kwara his state of origin in 2013 to join politics.

He advised the students to be of good characters to their parents, colleagues and their teachers all the times, charging them to be more dedicated towards their education as to become relevant to the society and the nation at large.

In his speech at the programme, the Assistant Comptroller of Correctional services, Mr. Alabi Folorunsho Owolabi categorized the fundermental child rights, stating that the baby born in the correctional centre can be regarded as a convict.

He explained that after 18 months the baby will be separated from his or her mother and the mother will continue her jail term in the correctional centre.

While speaking at the event, the Assistant Commissioner of Police, Mr. C.G. Woru urged the students to be responsible to their parents and be serious about their studies, disclosing that the police command equally concern about them.

He advised them not to see police as the enemy of the society but take them as friend that can jointly fight crime to standstill in the state, pointing out that police command established various departments that care for the children.

Also speaking, an All Progressives Congress (APC) stalwart in Kwara State, Alhaji Adebayo Abdullateef Oloyin in his paper presented at the programme tittle “Child Welfare Right and Non- interference Implementation of the Right Act observed that Nigerian children is getting less than what they deserve as spelt by the United Nations Convention.

He stated that children have inalienable rights to survival, develop, abuse, exploitation, fullest protection from harmful influence and rights to participate fully in the family culture and social life, disclosing that Kwara state child rights has been domesticated and are being diligently implemented.

He called on all to support the child which according to him is the best possible way defend the upcoming generation as shared the notion by Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq administration as not to mortgage the future leaders.

Oloyin explained that it’s high time to rescue Nigeria and the future of the country leaders from the detrimental but avoidable threats for the benefit of the country, commending gallant, honesty, hard work and selflessness of the founders of the country.

He promised that the Kwara state government will continue to be proactive in making sure that every child in the state get real access to develop and grow through qualitative education, advising the students to remain focused, determined, dedicated and diligent in all what they are doing.

He However, assured that the present government under the leadership of Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq will not leave any stone unturned in the quest to ensure that the state returns to its leading role in the country as far as education is concerned.

Highlights of the programme include cultural display by cultural group of the school, special prayer for Alhaji Saliu Mustapha’s political ambitions and presentation of meritorious awards for some eminent personalities in the society.
