Queen School: NDIC Complement Kwara Gov Huge Investment On Education Sector – Education Commissioner

The Honourable Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Hajia Sa’adatu Modbbo Kawu has appreciated Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC) for complementing Kwara State Governor, Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrasaq’s huge investment on Education sector.

Commissioner made disclosure during her address at the official commissioning of the newly renovated utral morden hostel at Queen Elizabeth School Ilorin on Monday said NDIC is touching the lives of kwara students positively.

She added that the hostel renovation project is not just for the school but for the girl child that is going to be a mother in future, commending the senior school principal, Hajia Taye Lawal for achieving laudable achievements in the school.

She disclosed that the principal has recorded unique landbmark success within shortest time of her resumption in the school as one of old girls of the school, praising the old girls of the college fof always promptly respond to the distress call of the school.

Commissioner commended the efforts of NDIC deemed it fit and necessary to renovate the Ayisatu house for the use of the students, charging the students on the judicious maintenance of facilities in the hostel.

In her address at the programme, the National President of Old Students Association of Queen Elizabeth School Ilorin, Dr. (Mrs.) Funsho Opadokun appreciated NDIC for the renovation of Ayisatu house.

She recalled that the house has due for renovation for past years but due to puncity of fund the renovation exercise could not be carried out.

She said “During the 60th anniversary of the school, the old students of the college moved round the school premises, what we saw forced us to weep because of the school has turned into some things else and from there we started calling on all old girls to come to our aide and rescue our Alma Mater.

“I thanked the Kwara State Governor, His Excellency, Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrasaq for came to the aide of the school by construction of the school roads network with solid drainage system”, she said.

The president also kudos the old girls of the college from all walks of lives in the country and in diaspora for their contribution towards the renovation of many structures in the school, demanding for more assistance from friends of the school, corporate organisation and we’ll to do individuals in the society.

Speaking at the occasion, the Zonal Director of NDIC, North Central, Mr. Chima Oyehere commended the achievements of the senior Principal of the school, Hajia Sidikat Taye Lawal and he management over the years, assuring that NDIC Wii always on ground for the school interns of infrastructural assistance.

He said NDIC is proud to associate with Queen Elizabeth School Ilorin, opmistic that the school will assiduously improve on the achievements, describing Deposit Insurance as a financial guarantee instituted measure of safety for the financial system to protect depositors.

He said Deposit Insurance ensures that the depositor does not lose all his money in the event of failure of an insured institution, saying that Deposit Insurance provides two important benefits to the economy.

Director will ensures small depositors that their deposits are safe and that guaranteed sum will be immidiately available to them if their insured institution fails, adding that public confidence in the banking system.

He said the NDIC has facilitated the construction of computers based information technology in University of Ilorin in 2003, a lecture room and office for Federal Polytechnic, Offa in 2009, in 2015, NDIC build hoditorium for Offa Grammar school.

Furnished computer ICT installation at Kwara State College of Education, Oro in 2018, the construction of Mass Communication and Radio at Summit University Offa and provision of computer library at Government Secondary school Ilorin in 2019 and many ongoing projects across the state.

Earlier in her opening remarks, the principal of senior section, Hajia Sidikat Taye Lawal described the renovation of hostel by NDIC as historical occasion of the school, disclosing that Adijatu house is one of the earliest hostel in the school.

“I paid a visit to the hostel in 2020 when I resumed as the principal of the school, I wept when I flashed back to when I was in the hostel as a student, the hostel was met in terrible condition and the first thing that came to mind was who will help me.

“Old students did not leave everything to the government alone, explaining that as stakeholders”, she confirmed.

The principal appreciated the Kwara State Governor, Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrasaq for all he has been doing for the school, pointing out that the government has constructed the school roads network.
