The head of current and public affairs TVC station, Mr Babajide Kolade Otitoju has disclosed that majority of Nigeria politicians will have to do a character transplant due to the current situation of Nigeria and as things are not getting better.
Otitoju made this submission during the kwara visioners maiden inaugural lecture tagged ; Governance and Leadership Recruitment in 21st century democracy on Saturday 9 , 2021
In his speech, he noted that politics and governance pervade every aspect of human lives adding that to ignore the fact is to remain stubbornly ignorant, frustrated and isolated.
He stressed further that politics is important because it determines what governance means. He also said politics determines how world is being managed and it should be seen far beyond the role of the government at any level.
Mr Babajide in his word also made it known that politics supposed to be used in advancing the well being of the citizens by ensuring the greatest happiness for the great number of people. He added further that it can be used in creating an egalitarian society if the right people are in corridors of power
Morealso, professor Attahiru Mahmud Jega, the former Independence National Electoral Commission (INEC) Chairman while, delivering his lecture said that, electronic transmission is the best way of eliminating electoral malpractices.
Jega explains further by saying, “There are still areas where internet is not good but, if you can transmit devices for example, to 70, 75 or 80 to 90 percent of the polling units, you have substantially deviated from electoral malpractices”.
“Those who want to be leaders, they have to be a visionary like Kwara Visioners. Because, to develop a vision is long term. So, you need to be persistent and consistent. He disclosed.
In the same vein, Doctor tope fasau revealed that the young people are the ones that will build the country as the older ones has no more energy. He affirmed that the older ones can only supervise the young ones and support them as they need to begin the good work.
“The only asset you have in Nigeria is not crude oil rather, it is the youth”.
Furthermore, Mr Olarewaju Lawrence Osho, at the Kwara Visioners maiden inaugural lecture said, Nigerians have become people without heart of kindness, we don’t have the concern for our immediate society.
“What we need to solve Nigeria problem is very small and that is good heart” the statement reads.
