Over Hijab: KWSG Calls On Baptist High School Ijagbo To Remain Calm

The Kwara State Government has pleaded with the religious group in Ijagbo community in Oyun Local Government Area of Kwara to remain calm for the outcome of resolution, Charging the security agencies to continue working with the religious leaders of all sides.

The appeal was contained in a press release signed and made available to journalists in Ilorin by Honourable Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Hajia Sa’adatu Modibbo Kawu on Thursday.

She lamented over the violence that broke out at Oyun Baptist High School, Ijagbo over the use of Hijab, adding that the state government will not smile with anyone caught in creating violence in any of the government school across the state.

The government unreservedly condemned the flagrant act of discrimination against anyone, especially on religious grounds, warning that such discrimination act will not be tolerated in any public-owned institution in the state.

She said government has directed the immediate temporary shutdown of the school pending resolution on the issue, praising the efforts of security agencies for their prompt action that to in the community.

The government however, appealed for calm as violence brings nothing good into any crisis society, demanding for proper investigations into the crisis and brought anyone linked with the mayhem to book to serve as a deterrence to others.
