A sociopolitical group, Kwara Political Front (KPF) has charged the Department of State Security (DSS) to take proactive measures to prevent the violence predicted in North Central zone by keeping an eye on Former Senate President, Bukola Saraki.

This is coming against the backdrop of the statement issued by the DSS, alerting the public of a sinister plan by some elements to stoke violence in parts of the country particularly the North Central.

The aim, according to the report is to cause ethno-religious crisis, ignite reprisals and heat up the polity.

In a bid to achieve this, the sponsors have mobilised foot soldiers and held several meetings in and outside the target areas.

KPF President, Alhaji Abdullahi Mohammad, in a statement said, “we are concerned about this revelation made by the DSS and worried because this statement is another red flag from the nation’s secret police”

“These miscreants of power, as reliably gathered have concluded plans to re-enact the 2003 political violence, as displayed against the administration of the Late Governor Muhammad Lawal, using fake policemen, and printing name of opposition on weapons and instruments of attack on opponents”

“We therefore have every cause to be concerned with such underhand political methods and advise the ruling party, All Progressives Congress to be wary of such plot”.

“It is expected for a drowning man to be desperate for survival and it does not make sense to beat a man that is down but emerging trends have confirmed the involvement of the former Senate President in the unconventional tactics of using violence to claim political relevance in Kwara state”.

“In view of the DSS’ red flag on the zone, the KPF is calling on the Police to be proactive in this situation to prevent another avoidable violence by inviting Bukola Saraki for questioning”.

“It is not enough to get them arrested if they are planning to unleash another violence with this preemptive flag, the law enforcement agencies should as a matter of urgency also roll up their sleeves in Kwara state matter. Enough is enough of this vicious circle of violence” the group stated.
