The Director of Department of Security Service Kwara Command has charged the members of the Kwara State Online Publishers Association (KOPAN), on fact, genuine and objective reports.
The DSS Director made the charge while playing host to the executive members of the association during the association visit to him in his office in Ilorin on Thursday, implored them to conduct thorough investigation before the publication.
He stressed that any crime incidence must be given full research before disseminate to the public, adding that crime news should not go public with out the consent of concern relevant security agents.
He pointed out that KOPAN as one of the major critical stakeholders online medium in crime fighting in the state must close rank in relationship with security agencies for the safety of lives and property.
He enjoined them make honest Watch words in discharging their chosen career in best interest of good people of the state and Nigeria as a whole, declaring that DSS office is widely open for people with genuine complains.
He encouraged people to come forward with the straight forward information that could lead to eradication of crime in the society, assuring that drastic action would be immidiately follows by proper investigations.
He also advised people to keep train dogs in their houses for better guard, confirming that trained dogs can perceive criminal elements as far as two kilometres away from owner’s house both in the days and the nights.
Earlier in his remarks, the Chairman of the association, Ogbeni Hamed Adedayo Zaid highlighted some of the association activities to include organising hang out and seminars on trending national issues among others.
Ogbeni Adedayo who led others executive members on the visit, however thanked the director for the opportunity given for the visit, promising to fused with the the agency on the effective news reporting.
